I like to challenge myself and break-up monotonous routines. Periodization is also one of the most important aspects of bodybuilding - it allows you to continue growing muscles by not allowing them to adapt to a certain workout routine, schedule, intensity, volume or load. Changing things up is also great for your mental state. So here is my "homework" sort of - the handstand. It takes a bit of training to get your shoulders and arms trained for the handstand and being able to keep the balance, so I am starting to train it next to a wall for support.

This particular take wasn't as great, mostly because I did it after my workout and you'd need a lot of energy for this kind of a trick. Even though my muscles were fatigued, I still attempted to do a few handstand push-ups. Not too deep, to make sure I don't collapse. Starting slowly is a great way to eventually get there.

I'll keep updating this post below as my handstand progresses to one without the wall support, eventually.

This one turned out a bit cleaner, though this was one of the very first ones by the wall. It's fascinating how in a matter of days, basically a week later, my muscles adopted for the challenge I was able to balance myself much better. Next to the wall still, but you can see the progress in the next video.

At this point, I am able to make the initial jump more controlled and stable, even with a bit of a hickup. And my push-ups are getting slightly deeper without compromising the balance. I can only imagine how awesome it would be to make it a freestanding handstand 🙂
