Ideally, a bodybuilding workout provides an adequate amount of resistance to all muscle groups and all areas of the body. It should contain a variety of exercises including weight training and cardiovascular exercise. When it comes to bodybuilding workouts, there is no single magic formula for everyone.

You should also consider what your personal goals are in undertaking a bodybuilding workout. Are you looking to gain muscle mass, lose weight, or just become stronger? What type of workout you need to succeed will depend on the goal you have.

It is important to be familiar with human anatomy as well as where the muscles of your body are located. It will be easier to work your muscles to their maximum capacity if you know where they are. The weights can be used to tone and sculpt specific muscle groups.

An effective bodybuilding workout will be at least four days long. Exercise on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, with a rest day on Wednesday and the weekend. The following is a good, basic bodybuilding workout that will focus on each part of the body, but not all at once:

  • Day 1: Deltoids, Triceps
  • Day 2: Back, Traps
  • Day 3: OFF
  • Day 4: Legs, Forearms
  • Day 5: Chest, Biceps
  • Day 6: OFF
  • Day 7: OFF

By working out in this manner, each body group will be worked on one day only, which will allow for maximum recovery and growth. To allow your muscles to heal between workout sessions, you need recovery time due to the intensity of a strong bodybuilding workout. The importance of this in any bodybuilding program cannot be overstated.

Maintain a log of your exercises and note your progress regularly. What I personally do is keep a photo log of my progress on Instagram. You know they say, if there is no gym selfie – you didn’t have a workout 🙂 As a result, you’ll know your strength potential, and you can make changes as needed to achieve your personal goal.

Although bodybuilding workouts vary from person to person, they all contain elements that can help all bodybuilders grow their muscles and tone their bodies. Keep your personal goals in mind when putting together your bodybuilding workout.
